No time to craft or list…

May 19th, 2010 Comments Off

I haven’t had the time to make any jewelry or hair accessories lately.  I’ve been busy with everything else.  And now I’m taking on a project of organizing and redecorating our house.  That’s going to be a long project!  But I need to do it.  I feel like I can’t make anything until that is done.

So… in the mean time, I decided to feature some handmade goodness from other Etsy sellers on this blog.  I’m going to start with some home decor today since I need new coffee and end tables, sofas, and accesories for my family room.  Here are some stuff that grabbed my attention:

Circles table by michaelarras.  (I love the circle pattern with the traditional cherry colored wood.  It’s like you can have fun in a formal way – if that makes any sense.)

Dissipation Modern Wall Art by jalexstudios.  (I can appreciate this since my husband is into computers.)

Rustic Primitive Coffee Farm Table  by JosephSpinaleFurn. (For those of you who like the rustic country feel, they make cool country style farm reproduction furniture!)

The Winner!

So after many posts on Twitter and Facebook and Etsy forums, the result of my first giveaway was not very successful.  Maybe I should have kept it on longer.  Maybe I should have gone on Etsy more?  So many things I could have done, but this was a last minute idea anyways.  :)  It was fun!  I ran a random integer generator on and here is the result:

New Earrings!

May 3rd, 2009 Comments Off

I called these “Grace” earrings.  No cool story this time though.  But I do like these because it’s simple but graceful and it’s got that asian flair.  :)  I really like jade because it’s soft in color and simple in its existence but then it’s also precious and valuable.  So I used 10mm New Jade and glass beads in this pair.  I used sterling silver ball pin and silver plated kidney earwires.  It’s about 1.5″ long.  Hope you like it!

The story behind “Esther” earrings

April 30th, 2009 Comments Off

It’s a simple story really.

My sister-in-law came to me and asked me to come up with a pair of earrings for her friend.  She came over and I showed her my stash of beads and findings and we just started putting something together.  The result is this pair of fun earrings:

(These earrings are antiqued with 18K gold leaf over sterling silver plated earwires and antique copper plated springs. Pink faceted luster edge glass beads and antiqued gold toned spacers dangle from the springs. About 2″ long.)

So I dedicated this set to my sister-in-law!  :)

Now, you can get this pair of earrings in my Etsy Shop

NOTE: Some earrings I have in stock and some I make to order.  As of right now, all can be shipped out within a few days.

Tuna salad sandwich

April 15th, 2009 § 2

Since DD can eat most of the things we eat now, I’ve been trying different foods for lunch.  After I twittered about getting a tuna sandwich yesterday, a friend of mine asked for a picture.  So this is in response to her request.  :)

Today’s lunch (and also yesterday’s) was Tuna Salad Sandwich.  I didn’t have any vegetables on hand so I just went plain + a little twist.

Ingredients for 2 – 3 servings:

  • 1 can of tuna fillet
  • 1/2 cup of raisins
  • 1/3 cup of mayonaise*
  • 1 teaspoon of dijon mustard*
  • 1/2 teaspoon of sugar
  • a dash of black pepper

* estimated

I emptied the can of tuna fillet into a bowl and mashed it up really well.  Then I added about 3 big spoonfuls of mayonaise (about 1/2 cup) and a teaspoon of dijon mustard and mixed it up.  I then sprinkled the sugar and black pepper on top of it and mixed it in.  I added the raisins (the twist)last.

Any of the condiments can be added to your taste.  The tuna was salty enough for me, so I didn’t add any salt.  But if you like stronger taste, then feel free to add some salt.  The sugar was to bring out all the flavors.

So it was because of the raisins, DD was able to finish the sandwich without any problems even though she doesn’t really like the slightly strong smell of tuna.  Hey, whatever it takes, right?  :)

Yes, Twitter…

I don’t know how many people are like me who weren’t really into the whole e-networking scene but ended up converting.  Just a few years ago, I liked the good old paper and pen for a planner instead of a PDA and a good old phone call because typing on IM is too slow.

But recently, I have gotten myself a Facebook account and, just yesterday, Twitter.  Yup.  Through all the resisting and determination of not getting into these social networking sites, and especially the giving of your life over to the small tweets of 140 characters of yourself and others, I broke down.

What is to become of me?  Will I sit in front of my computer and type updates of my life every half hour?  Will I check the tweets of the people I follow on my Blackberry when I can’t get my hands on my computer??  Will I install Twitter on my Facebook so everyone can see that I have Twitter???

Too late…

Already done them.

It’s not too bad so far.  It’s kind of neat to be able to just type a simple sentence instead of sitting here for an hour trying to figure out what to write for this blog.  Being a SAHM, time is of the essence.  So small tweets here and there can actually help my DH and other family members and friends to know what DD and I are doing at home.  And I’m also using it to keep people updated on the progress of my shop, too.  So far, it’s a win-win situation.  We’ll see when I start to forget to twitter…

New start, new website

April 13th, 2009 Comments Off

I have been on a hiatus for about 7 months now with regard to my Etsy store and my website for reasons that only a SAHM with a baby would understand.  But DD is growing up and does not need my constant attention any more.  So my mind is drifting ever so slightly back toward crafting and designing.

With the fresh feeling of the newness of Spring, I’m very much inclined to freshen up my website also.  So here is an attempt at reinvigorating my poor neglected website.  And I’m very excited about the possibilities!
